Booze, Taxidermy and Silent Discos amongst skeletons. All my fetishes rolled into one.
Yes, I was a bit of a nerdy nature enthusiast kid once upon a time and I think I jizzed my pants a little when I heard about this event. Last night was the First Night of the 'Jurassic Lounge' at The Australian Museum, where the doors are opened for us kids to run amuck (fueled with a free bottle of booze on entry) through the Museum's valuables (which was never a wise decision in my opinion, but hey! They did it anyway). And it was pretty awesome.
The Jurassic Lounge is happening every Tuesday night between 5:30-9:30pm from February up until April and showcases live bands and Djs, live art and installation, exhibitions and other live performance things. They also have snakes. Big live ones that crawl up your arm. Other than that you're free to check out the rest of the Museum, such as the Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition that's being held there at the moment (and is amazing, everyone should go and check that shit out).
We ended up spending most of last night in the Skeleton Room where the silent disco was bangin' courtesy of Tessa Stevens aka. the one and only talented Lonewolf. SO. GOOD.
Also went and checked out the new Hunky Dory Social Club that's just opened a few weeks ago and wow. I mean, cow-hide roof? Roof top courtyard? A room of Mirror shards? Need I mention anymore? This place is going to get big reaaaaal fast reeeeal soon.
So definitely head along and check out this fbi sponsored event if you've got nothing to do one Tuesday Night,
get yo bootay on the floor,
and everybody walk the dinosaur!
