Secret Wars: Houl vs. Bridge!

Secret Wars is the worlds premier live art battle. Originating in London, UK, Secret Wars has spread worldwide and, for the very first time, has come to Australia.

The rules are simple: It's a knockout tournament, with 90 minutes on the clock to paint a wall using black markers and paint only. No sketches, no pencils, with the winner chosen by two judges and the audience.

April 1st, Thursday from 8pm, Name This Bar, Oxford Street

Sydney’s premiere art space the ABSOLUT Stairwell Gallery is pleased to announce the launch of an exhibition featuring Sydney’s premiere street art group – ‘The Movement’. A collection of artists that have been redefining street art throughout the inner-city suburbs of Sydney over the last 12 months.

'The Movement' is not your standard street art crew but are recognized and respected through their modern and contemporary style. Taking influence from a broad artistic range across cartoon comic characters, graffiti, through cubism, realism and expressionism.

Even though street art has strong graffiti roots, ‘The Movement’ do not conform to the rules and crew politics of graffiti writers. ‘The Movement’ have varied from illegal bombing, walls, paste-ups, stickers and installations across not only Australia but internationally.

They are taking these skills developed from the streets and displaying 10 of their best artists to exhibit at the ABSOLUT Stairwell Gallery.

When: Thursday, 1st of April, 2010 from 6 – 9pm. Exhibition will continue until the 14th of May, 2010.

Where: Sugarmill stairwell, 33 – 37 Darlinghurst Road Downtown Kings Cross

Featuring artists:
HOUL, VARS, HAZZYBEE, KONSUMTERRA, SMC(3), JOHNDOE, BUNKWAA, FZA, SPRINKLES and IMOK.
