Had a delightful Thursday evening at the OAF being entertained by the likes of Megastick Fanfare, The Seabellies, Seekae Djs and one of my most anticipated and favourite Sydney bands at the moment, Parades.
Megastick Fanfare created that awesome jungle atmosphere with their chaotic chanting and those melodious harmonies that climax to a point where you can't stop bopping in a drunken haze of glee (that only ever helps to escalate the experience), especially and most definitely to Musings' Heartthrob.
Seekae Djs were in the intervals, spinning their turntables but sadly none of their own tunes...
Seabellies, I love you, I really do, but I really did come to see Parades and alas only was able to see two of their awesome songs BECAUSE YOU TOOK UP A WHOLE BLOODY 40 MINS
but I love you I really do, don't get me wrong, especially the ditties when you whipped out the brass for a solo, there was one track that was made hauntingly beautiful by the trumpet and saxophone solo, I have to admit, we sat there in awe long after the sound died. And my oh my, the little pixie lady, we were mesmerized by your tambourine dancing, something we aspire to do as well one day and look as good doing it! (like dayumnnn honestly)
AND PARADES! I had no idea that the one and only Jonathon Boulet was your drummer!? What, ho? Could the band possibly get any better? We saw you in the crowd and thought "kjadbkjs!!!" simply because we love you and want to have your babies BUT THEN YOU GOT UP ON STAGE and...
Although I was only able to see you play two songs, I knew it was well worth the wait and that I am definitely PURCHASING your debut!
Absolutely amazing and original,
All in all, a splendiferous night in the company of spandex pants and fluffy/half-shaved heads =]
Schnoodle monster OUT.
